St. John’s Theological Seminary envisions becoming a beacon of faith and learning for the Syriac Orthodox Church in North America and beyond. Grounded in the rich and unbroken apostolic tradition of the Holy Church, the Seminary seeks to nurture a new generation of faithful who are firmly rooted in the Word of God, inspired by the teachings of the Holy Fathers, and guided by the light of Christ.
Our vision is to see future clergy, deacons, and lay leaders embodying the timeless wisdom of the Syriac Orthodox Church, while also being prepared to serve the needs of the faithful in a rapidly changing world. By instilling spiritual discipline, intellectual formation, and a deep love for the Orthodox faith, the Seminary aspires to shape leaders who preserve the heritage of our forefathers, strengthen the unity of the Church, and boldly witness the Gospel in society with humility, love, and truth.
Our Mission
The mission of St. John’s Theological Seminary is to serve as a center for theological education, spiritual formation, and Christian fellowship for all who desire to know and grow in the Orthodox faith. Although firmly rooted in the Syriac Orthodox tradition, the Seminary opens its doors to everyone—clergy, seminarians, students, and lay persons—who seek to deepen their understanding of the Apostolic faith and live it out in their daily lives.
